Jay Michaels Harp

Jay Michaels, known for his mastery of both historical and modern harps, is an acclaimed harpist celebrated for his immersive performances across Celtic, Renaissance, Medieval, and ambient music genres.  In addition to the Harp, he is adept at the Viola da Gamba, Rebec, Dulcimer, and Guitar. Based in Massachusetts, Michaels is renowned not only for his solo performances but also as a co-founder of The Harper and The Minstrel, a duo that brings a timeless touch to Celtic, Medieval, and Renaissance music. His repertoire includes arrangements of iconic tunes by The Beatles and U2, in addition to traditional pieces from various historical eras.

His harp work has been featured on major television series, including Daredevil, Parenthood, and Nashville, and in various independent films, showcasing his versatile talent and ethereal soundscapes. Michaels' unique style and deep reverence for harp history make his performances a captivating blend of ancient and contemporary art forms

Jay is a member of The Historical Harp Society of Ireland. He is the former President of The Historical Harp Society in the States. He is also a member of Early Music America and The Viola da Gamba Society. 

Jay Michaels has performed in many parts of America at Medieval, Renaissance, Celtic, Folk, and Yoga Festivals. In November 2023, he performed in Waterford and Cork, Ireland.
